DAY 1 - 2: NEW DELHI
Welcome to India. Our tour manager will receive you at Airport and will escort you to your hotel in an AC car. Delhi, the capital city of India, was planned by Edwin Lutyens, the 20th century British architect, and is a curious blend of the old and the new. Overcome Jetlag and Relax. Visit Old Delhi city - Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, the massive Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Qutub Minar - A 72 meter high monument and Humayun’s Tomb built in mid 16th century. Evening at leisure On the way back, enjoy a detour at the historic India Gate, and pass through the President’s House (Rashtrapati Bhavan), Safdarjung’s Tomb & the Indian Parliament
DAY 3-4 AGRA
After a sumptuous Indian breakfast, travel from New Delhi to Agra. Check in to a luxurious hotel, take a relaxing break, and break for lunch. Post-lunch we see the Taj Mahal (closed Friday), built by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan in loving memory of his beloved consort Mumtaz Mahal. The next day visit Agra Fort, where Shah Jahan spent the last days of his life watching the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur-Sikri which is also a UNESCO world heritage site and leave for Jaipur
DAY 5-6 JAIPUR
Travel from Agra to Jaipur in a car.( A comfortable 5-6 Hr Journey) Go for a sightseeing tour to Amber Fort located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Jaipur, ‘The City Palace’ which has been converted into a museum containing rare manuscripts, Jantar Mantar the astronomical observatory built by Jai Singh and drive past Hawa Mahal – the palace of winds, its five-storey façade decked with no less than 593 finely screened windows and balconies. Conclude with visit to Albert Hall Museum Evening: Visit to Chokidhani, a typical Rajasthani village and catch the flavor of folksy dances from the happy-go-lucky locals. Wind up the day fine dining over a Rajasthani dinner
DAY 7-8 COCHIN
Travel to New Delhi and fly to Cochin and get transferred to a luxurious hotel. Take an exploratory tour of Cochin and visit various historical monuments which are considered to be architectural marvels, like the Mattancherry Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, the Santa Cruz Cathedral, the Bolgatty Palace, and Willingdon Island. Also watch the enticing traditional Kathakali Dance. In the evenings take a stroll on the Cochin Beach and view an extremely beautiful sight of sunset. Also see the famous Chinese fishing Nets silhouetted against a backdrop of the sunset. They make for a spectacular sight
DAY 9 HOUSEBOAT
Travel to Kumarakom boat jetty and get transferred to a luxury houseboat. Cruise along the romantic backwaters amidst natural beauty and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Should you wish, get an insight into the daily lives of the local people. Spend the night in the houseboat -- Nightcap in a houseboat is a memorable experience!
DAY 10-11 KUMARAKOM
Get transferred from Houseboat boat jetty to Kumarakom. Kumarakom, by the way, is the preferred haunt of Prime Ministers and Presidents.Relax and Rejuvenate in a luxury lake resort overlooking romantic backwaters. Go on short walks to explore the real beauty of backwaters or pamper yourself by having a rejuvenating ayurvedic massage. View the beautiful sunset on a short boat cruise or spot rare birds at the Kumarakom Bird sanctuary or simply relax and spend time with your family.
DAY 12-13 PERIYAR NATIONAL PARK
Take a three hour drive to Thekkady, passing through a greenish blur of tea gardens, spices estates and gardens. Take a Boat Safari at Thekkady. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to over 1,000 elephants, 46 tigers, and several bisons, and wild dogs. Viewing these wild animals in their natural habitat while being safely ensconced in a boat on a lake with your partner in the midst of natural beauty is stuff, dreams are made of. Go on a spice tour and visit a rural village of spices teeming with an array of aromatic spice plantations of Cardamom, Clover, Cinnamon, etc. Go on a Jungle trek if you wish to see wildlife from close quarters.
DAY 14 NEW DELHI
Have a relaxing morning, and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast in the hotel. Travel to Cochin and fly to New Delhi – Remaining day at leisure. Tour Ends with sweet memories.
